Neville, I'm sure that you are well aware that Christmas is coming very soon, and this year, I have decided that I'm going to be proactive this year and do things early. No shopping on Christmas Eve because Dad and I were busy and it snuck up on us. So, my dear, I want to know what you want for Christmas. Don't dally in your list. I already have some ideas, but I don't want to overlook something that you really want.
And like I promised, we won't put up all the decorations until you come home, don't worry. I know how much you love decorating the tree, though I did put a wreath up on our door this evening. It's almost December 1, after all.

I think it would be wise for someone from Hogwarts' faculty to comment on the nonsense on the wireless today. Let the troll in ourselves, they really will say anything for publicity, won't they?
While a dangerous creature is certainly bad press, I think that stupidly letting in a dangerous creature into the school is considerably worse.
Neville, dear, I would send you baked goods to help with this apparent pastry war, but as you know, they would likely do more harm than good.
